Mt Kilimambogo hike provides a great experience owing to the beautiful views along the trail. There is a paved road up to the summit but there is also a footpath that is steeper, making you push yourself harder than when you follow the road. Along the trail, you pass by Lord MacMillan’s burial site. You also get to enjoy amazing views of surrounding farms and the park from several strategic viewpoints. The trail from the starting point is 9 km long. Altogether, Mt Kilimambogo is a manageable hike for the average person and kids over 7 years.
How to Prepare for the Hike
- Engage in active cardio exercises such as aerobics, walking, running, cycling, and swimming among others the week prior to the event.
- Set aside the day before the hike for resting--take a break from exercises.
- Increase your hydration at least two days to the hike.
- Purpose to get enough rest the night before the hike.
- If on intermittent fasting or on a diet, take a break in the period one day before and after the hike. This way, you will build up your energy reserves for the arduous task ahead.
